It does not bother the MAF. I had the dealer check twice...
Although I don't know what setup you have BRABUSML, but I DO NOT reccommend a foam air filter. Rather than a cone K&N air filter to replace it. I haven't had any problems with it. Dealer has even doublechecked for me. I'm trying to get together with my friend so we can manufacture a bunch of those air intake systems. I've been hogged with school, sorry everyone. Soon though :-) This is what I designed and manufactured. Sounds great, looks good, and doesn't bother the M.A.F. [:)]
Your quick solution would be to get rid of the foam filter and install a cone K&N filter

That's what the dealer told me!!!!
Hey Tony, that interesting because my SA just call and said my A.M.S. is bad also(intermittent short??) and my is virgin. The symtom is check engine on last week and go away after 3 short trips then on Monday it come on again and stay on.
Now it makes me worry because my will be out of warranty in the summer.

Replace that foam cone with a real K&N filter and you won't have any problems. It seems that particles are damaging the sensor. I replaced my sensor before installing K&N and never had a problem so far.
You need a 3' cone from K&N, they make those black and chrome, I'd get the chrome.
Good luck, and replace the sensor yourself, don't pay $300 labor for a 15 min job.[:p][:D][8D]

Those adapters are silicone rings connectors (come in different colors) and the tube is a 3" carbon fiber tube. You should be able to buy this anywhere, internet or PepBoys or similar.
I was going to do all that work, but I preferred to stick the K&N filter inside the original filter box and save me all the trouble. Besides, when you take the car for service and a tech sees that, he will be very reluctant to work on your car or very scare to touch it. Either way, it's simpler (and cheaper)to get the K&N filter or similar inside the black box, and swap it when you take the car for service.
