Re: AC/Heater blower fan has vibration . . . Had it twice, in 430 (oak acorns) and 55 AMG. Read ===>
My wife was complaining about a vibration in her fan, so I wanted to compare with mine. Then I realized that my ML55 ALSO had a vibration. My car was having the ''wheel shake'' from a Bad Rim (which the factory technician said was ''normal'' for a performance vehicle) so I showed them how my steering wheel would also ''shake'' with the fan on AND THE ENGINE OFF. Boy, were they embarrassed. They replaced the out-of-balance fan motor, but never discovered the bad rim. I had to finally take it to Mr. Tire to find that. (The factory tech did respond to my e-mail by calling me twice in January to say that he had left word at the dealership to notify him if I returned with the wheel shake problem in that he had realized that I was right. The dearler never called him and the Regional Rep. has never admitted to their failing.)

My wife's car was cleared of the problem (for free) and we have never figured out whether a squirrel or a nuthatch had dropped the acorns into the front air intakes. This would seem to be a design issue. The mechanic was not even surprised to have such large items enter the vents as he handed me all those little acorns. (They were a lot.)

Hope this helps you. I think I'll have to return with the 430 as it seems now to have some leaves. Oh, well.

Enjoy! . . . . . . . Jüri.
conpx02.hcfa.gov
Re: Engine acorns . . Mice & chipmunks also do it all the time in my tractor, gravely and truck.
Usually, they are on top of the engine, the manifold, or in the air filter. Only the ML has had something in the inside fan area. This can be a problem since it is not easy to get to, or am I wrong. Any help for screening out the critters and birds??

Thanks! . . . . . . Jüri.
conpx02.hcfa.gov
