Hey everyone, my 01 ML had a nasty run in with a peice of rolled up carpet that fell on it from about 6 ft. up in my garage. It left these horrid scratches that look like someone buffed the hood with steel wool. What is te best way to resolve this? Should I swallow the cost and replace the hood or is it possible to restore it back to its original scratch free shine? If I have to change the hood I would put in the ML 55 power domed hood, anyone have a pricve on this? I was planning to put the ML 55 grill in, between that an the sport package it will look like a amg tuned ML. I am also interested in getting 2002 xenon headlamps. Any info appreciated. Thanks. BTW the car is brilliant silver, if it makes a diff.
Sounds like the jute backing on the carpet did act like steel wool !
If the scratches have not gone all the way through the clear coat, chances are you will be able to polish the marks out. If you are not experienced or comfortable doing this yourself, seek out a qualified auto detailing professional.
