I think I know the answer but my gf's friend has a 300m and it came with chrome rims and since my gf has them on her acura she wants to know what happens if you keep the chromes on all year. we live in massachusetts which tends to get snow [sarcasm] and I would like a definitive answer as to whether its feasable to keep chromes on all the time. I am guessing that the salt would pit them but I dont know for sure.
I gather you must be referring to Chrome finish which is an aluminum or magnesium wheel buffed to a mirror finish. Up here in Canada, most drivers that have exotic and polished rims on their cars remove them during winter use as salt will most definitely pit them. Some owners have clear-coated them but this process usually results in yellowing rims due to the high temperatures involved in braking.
In my opinion, I would remove them during winter and use your stock rims.
Remove them. You'll save $150-$200 per wheel re-chroming them.
