It should not be by much. We had one person bring in their own and it went up an inch. Turns out they bought genuine ones on eBAy, but they for the models that had the full size spare tire carrier on the back so the springs had a higher rating.
We leveled the truck using the torsion bars adjusters and had it aligned.
I just changed my rear struts and front shocks and I noticed a slight height increase in the rear. Noticed that the rear view mirror wasn't quite aligned with my view. I also had a spring that was broken at the base of the old strut. Just wanted to change it because it has over 125k on the clock and on braking the front end appeared to dip forward and down. No more. The shocks and struts cost approx 850. From FCPEuro. And it's the numbers are for my ML55.
I did look on partsgeek.com and they listed the bare Bilstein shock under that part # but not a complete with spring assembly, which wouldn't help much in my case, logic suggests.
As it is, i already do have the complete units, so I'm just hoping there is a moderately higher ride level.
All of your comments suggest that I can probably expect that.
I may also play around with the idea I suggested in the thread 'Lift Plate Dimensions' and that may help achieve a moderate lift effect, additionally.
While I generally work on my own vehicle I did not change my struts or my shocks. They required a lift and time which I didn't have so my indie did it. He gave me a modest bill and a warm handshake so I must assume it was not a taxing job. Lol.
