Had to brake very hard to avoid a car that drove from a side street, slide and stopped narrowly missing it.
When I continue down the highway I noticed the BAS, ESP and ETS lights came on.
After a few days the lights are still on. I tried starting the car in park and turning your wheels to the left and right then to center but didn't work.
If you want to keep it for another 200k a scanner will be the best investment you can make for your ML. Go with what 43sqd has recommended as cheap may not do all systems. A good scanner saves you money and a lot of frustration.
A friend of mine did the same hard braking, the same BAS/ESP & ETS lit up. He had replaced brake light switch(it was original), then erased code (C1200) with Autel MD802 Maxidiag bought from Amazon, lights never returned.
You still won't know until you perform a scan on the vehicle. Get the one that 43sqd recommends. Do the scan and post the codes and we will see what comes up on the scanner.
I received the scanner this morning and first I have a question about the scanner. After watching youtube I realized there is a md802 4 system and a full system. I bought the 4 system, do I need to exchange for the full system?
Now you have them all written down, clear the codes individually and see which ones stay away or come back. C1000 calls for the ESP module to be replaced. Give the steering wheel lock to lock 3 times also. ( engine running).
Unless your after live data ignition on is enough to retrieve codes.
Thanks for looking that up, I'll just go buy a switch. In the long run will probably be cheaper! Can't get out of the dealer without costing 3 or 4 hundred.
Success, installed brake light switch from the dealer 001-545-87-09 ($21.20). All lights are off, thanks everyone for your help.
Ask question again, I bought the Autel MD 802 maxidiag (4 system), didn't know there was a full system available. Do you think in the future with more experience I might need the full scanner, no trouble replacing.
If I may be so bold I'd suggest just getting the Star system. I spent several thousand dollars getting to the point where I bought a Star 4. Should have purchased that first but as you see I have more than Mercedes and my kids have American cars. For working on Mercedes there is nothing better than Star system. It will tell you everything right down to the beats per minute of YOUR heart. Lol. Seriously it truly is the best and is specifically designed for Mercedes systems only. And yes next to the Mercedes it was the best investment I've made. Good luck.
