While changing your own oil gives you the confidence of knowing your vehicle and how to address its basic needs, using inappropriate parts and fluids will soon prove to be counterproductive and damaging.
The wisest and most thorough approach is to invest in a complete Oil Service Kit.
ECS-assembled and genuine Mercedes Oil Service Kits have been scrutinized by our in-house engineers so you can back up that confidence of having done the job on your own.
We are glad to have you as a site sponsor that does offer good deals.
Two issues here that cropped up in the W211 forum. The shipping if under $200 makes these deals expensive. 8-9 quarts of oil weighs a lot and if has to go all the way to the left coast the shipping is pricey.
An owner can go to Walmart and get 2 of the 5 quart jugs of Mobil 1 0w40 European oil for about $54. Add a filter from the dealer even at the list price and it is almost $25 cheaper than any one of the options you have listed. Seeing as an oil change lasts for about a year for most owners the convenience of having it all arrive at once is nice as an order from ECS. However spending 30-45 minutes buying it all locally from a big box store and a dealer for the filter is a large savings.
Each member will have to decide what is best for them. I just want to say I do appreciate and have ordered package deals ECS has offered for other things and company does do a great job with customer service.
