Hello gang,
Could someone please clarify how many speakers there are with the Bose upgrade with CD changer option and where the speakers are within vehicle.
Thanks!
James
There are 9 speakers + 1 SW under the driver seat. 4 speakers on each doors + 2 front tweeters on the A pillar + 2 rear tweeters on the D pillar (trunk area) + 1 under the front passenger seat facing the door.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.
I know my friends 2001 ML only got 6 speakers + 1 SW under the front passenger seat. The 4 speakers are on each doors, but I'm not sure for where they put the 2 tweeters. It's possible they are embedded with 2 front speaker.

Like usual, if someone knows better, please correct me.
The pre-'02 Bose system has coaxial front speakers, with built in tweeters on top of the woofers. There are actually techically only 4 speakers + one subwoofer.
I heard that Bose system needs 'all' Bose speakers to function properly. Again, I'm not so sure. You can post your question to Audio/Video forum.

But if you don't have Bose system, I guess you can always change the speakers to better ones.
Changing speakers is counted as a modification, isn't it? :-)...
But yes, you can do that, should you wish. I've heard that because of the Bose electronic equalisation though, you might not hear that much of a difference. But you can always try, of course.
has a 6 speaker system + SW. I have the 01 ML430 and noticed a speaker on the bottom of the front passenger seat facing the door. I could not locate the sixth speaker but I am sure it is seperate from the ones attached on the doors. I could thus account for 5 speakers and a SW.
