Hi,
Im not having much luck with the car at the moment. I was suppose to be travelling 1000km in the car today but it didnt happen.
I was having intermittent issues with starting the car after short journeys when the car was not up to normal operating tempreture but 'warm'
Did research on the forum and all pointed towards the Crank position sensor.
I ordered a bosch one from the US about a week ago and waiting for it to arrive.
Yesterday when driving through a huge storm started getting a misfire on the car.
Lots of water on the road and a few creek crossings later I got home.
Now the car has a really bad misfire. I took it to the local mechanic and came up with misfires on nearly all cylinders.
Initially it didnt come up with the Crank position sensor but eventually after turning the car on and off a few times it flagged that up on the screen.
Everntually the car stalled and 'start error' began flashing on the dash which it has never done before.
I have recently bypassed the rear CATS, changed all spark plugs, changed air filter, oil filter and changed trnasmission fluids.
Have driven about 2500 km since then with nil issues (apart from the intermittent hot start problem)
My question is could the Crank Position Sensor cause the misfire problem that I am now experiencing or should I be looking at something else??
Thought maybe it was something to do with all the water I went through maybe getting into something but dont know where to start.
The mechanic was scratching his head until the Crank position sensor flagged up and wasnt really much help to me and basically said, "well thats what you get for buying a car like that."
Am moving house tomorrow and the ML is now getting transported the 1000km by truck.....
Any ideas appreciated
Thanks
Dan
