Cool Radio problems

Hi everyone,

I have already searched this forum but have yet to find the answer.

2003 ML320. The radio is getting power but the radio is not getting the sound to the speakers.

One suggestion on this site was the fuse in the amplifier itself. One person stated the location of the amp is under the brake pedal. I pulled up the carpet to find a wire bundle, no amp.

Can anyone tell me where the Amp for this vehicle is located?

Thank you,
Ed

You have to pull the rug away to see it.

Cool amplifier

How far do I have to pull the rug back? Is it closer to the seat or is it just slightly lower than the wire bundle?

Thank you

Here is a photo and it looks like it was taken upside down.

Before you go crazy with the amp., look under the front passenger seat and see if the fiber optic connector has not become undone.

Cool

Thank you again sir,
I took a photo of the black box under the pax seat. I tried posting it here but it's asking me for a html link to link the photo. I'm not that computer savvy.

Altho I made an attempt. I hope it comes thru.

There are 2 cables under the seat. One is attached to nothing, the other attached to another cable. No one that I am aware of has changed anything since I bought the vehicle as do all the work on it. I will look under the dash today too to see if I have the amp you shared a picture of.

Thank you for that.

Go to the CD changer in the trunk and there will be two connectors attached. One is with 3 wires and the other is a two orange cable design which are the fiber optic cables.

The fiber optic cables go to the e-call box under the seat and then to the radio, etc. as shown in the illustration. If any one of these fiber optic connectors have been undone or damaged, there will be no sound transmitted.

The photo of the amp. was taken by someone else and it appears to have been taken upside down. The amp is up on the firewall to the left, under the matting.

Cool

The latest:

I found the amp. The fuse is just fine.

I looked at the connections under the front seat. All are connected properly except the ones shown in the photo i posted. They don't appear to go anywhere.

I checked the connections at the CD changer in the back. All are connected properly.

Maybe the Amp has gone bad?

The amp should be the last thing considered. First check the 25 amp fuse #40 in the fuse box.

If not then read this thread.

Thanks.
I've already looked at ALL the fuses under the passenger seat dash and the fuses under the hood.

The thread you sent me? Would the antenna affect the tape player too?
