The SRS circuit and the horn circuit run through the clock spring. Probably the tape probably partially broke inside causing the SRS light to come on and then the rest of the tape broke resulting in no horn.

Find an independent mech. with a good scanner and he can read the Air Bag codes. If it comes back that the driver air bag has a problem, then replace the clock spring and you will get the horn back. The you will have to return to the indy. to clear the air bag code.

Ah, i hope so. At least it would be an end to the mystery. Wouldn't it be just as beneficial if i tore the spring out and investigated myself BEFORE having the codes read?
Or is the clock spring not a DIY? The WIS on it seems easy in theory but the terminology makes it seem hard.

Yes it is a DIY, just as long as you have a 2 ft. long, 1/2" breaker bar and correct socket to remove the bolt at the steering wheel.

Thanks for all the tips. Truck us going in to my indy who has a Snap On scanner and will get me the source of the SRS.
Just in case, does anyone know the size for the nut holding the steering wheel on?

Never got a print out of the codes, but SDS points towards clock spring. Scheduled for tuesday to go back to the dealer and get it done. 220.00 for the part and 1 hour install at 145 an hour.

Just wanted to add an end to my story. It was the clock spring. Got my horn back and SRS light is off. Thanks guys, and you were right again 43SQD.
