Stipulation – prior to delivery.

Prior to taking delivery, I struck a deal that would allow me to add the Step Bars, Grille Guard, and Bi-Xenon at dealership cost – plus any applicable tax and labor charges. I already added the Step Bars – and they kept their promise. Now I’m waiting for them to follow-up with the appropriate quote for the Bi-Xenon. I would imagine something around $875 + tax and whatever they charge for the installation.

I’m also waiting for the final word on whether or not programming is really necessary. It sounds like it may be – but I’ll wait to see what Drew can find on this. Rewiring? I’m not so sure about that. They told me my ’02 ML320 was already pre-wired to support Bi-Xenon…

Re: Stipulation – prior to delivery.

Thanks for the info. I actually ordered the ML500 with the Bi-Xenon, but the dealer told me it will take 5-6 weeks due to a backlog in the production line. So they convinced me to take one that is available from another dealer, but without the Bi-Xenon. I did not know it will cost me a lot more if I get it installed after delivery. I just learned a very costly lesson.

$2K? Ouch!...

Now I haven't confirmed this yet, so don't run out and buy anything yet. However, I'm pretty sure that with the '02 models, you won't even need the wiring adaptors and the Bi-Xenons will work. Even if you have a pre-'02 model, the Bi-Xenon lamps from Performance Products will be plug and play.r

Your dealer obviously didn't research enough. There should be no wiring changes needed if you have a '02.

Ped, the good news is that for the price that Performance Products will be selling their lamps, you won't be out too much money (only a few hundred) compared to what you would have paid for the factory option price. However, you will of course not get the auto leveling and the headlamp washer system. Lesson learned, as you said :-). Fortunately not too expensive a lesson.

Re: $2K? Ouch!...

Thanks for the great news. The auto-leveling & headlanp washer features are nice to have but not really necessary (I maybe speaking prematurely).

Any idea when PP will be selling the lamps ? Are there any group buy options/discounts ?

Ped...

Working on it :-) I will keep everyone updated on information as it comes to me. I'm not sure if there will be a lower group buy price as the lamps are already really (surprisingly actually) inexpensive. However, it doesn't hurt to ask.
