what does this mean??? 800 with a wrench beside it.

Hi I'm new to the forum and have a question.

I have a 2004 ML500 and I turned it on one day to see the odometer section reading 2000 with a wrench beside it. It is now 800 and slowing decreasing. Is this someting I should be overly concerned about or just a service I eventully have to make.

Sorry if this is a simple question.

Thanks

not to be an ass, but its sort of self-explantory, and if not that, than the Manual of your ML would sure have the answer.

Anyways, you have 800 miles until your next 'Service' @ the Dealership. There is however a way to eliminate the Wrench Symbol (FFS?), just search the forum.

Hope that helps

the icon should be a funnel with $$$ going down it... make sure you find a good indy and don't go to the stealer.

Dude One wrench is a service A which is about 250 bucks. and 800 miles away. unless it says -800 and then your 800 miles past due. 2 wrenches is a B service which is about 500 dollars. it alters A b A b A b every 10 k miles. good luck.

Funny. Every week or so i get the wrench symbol and sometimes its like 9600 and other times 8400 or something crazy. It keeps changing but not properly! At any rate, i changed the oil over 2000 miles ago.

I believe that in the manual it will tell you how to reset that so it will go away. if not in the manual someone here has posted the instructions before.

C'Mon people, I know a lot of new ones here bought these cars used. But why can't you just go through the owner's manual to at least try to understand how these vehicles work? If you don't have a manual, then get one, period!!!! A wrench sign on the dash indicates impending service or the need for service! If it fluctuates or is non decisive, ask yourself when last you had the oil changed. It's common sense, so use it!

The FSS counter will also increase if you add oil. At least mine does.

A sensor measures the level and dielectric properties of the oil
