Oil Hi indicator in ml320 1999

I have checked the dip stick and the oil level is in the middle between high and low but the Oil high indicator still comes on after I have driven for a mile or so. This has happened in the past also after oil change and eventually the oil high indicator goes away after the ml has burned enough oil and the dipstick indicates that the oil level is closer to the low level mark.

Is it ok to have the oil filled closer to the low level mark in dipstick and then refilling a little oil every so often since the ml keeps burning oil? ANy other ideas on this?

Mine done the samething, so I pumped out about 4-6 oz. everything is fine, 2500 miles later it says -2qt oil, checked it was still in the center. I put 8.5 qts in it to start with. So I added 4oz, 4 days later hi oil... I'm still searching to see what I find on here.

The dipstick is the indicator I would trust. I received the high warning as well but that was because it was filled up all the way to the max line. I sucked some oil out through the dipstick and was fine after that.
