Interior Cleaning advice

I am needing to clean and treat the inside of my ML. I used to use 'Clear Guard' on my other cars, but I am a little leery of putting such stuff on the Benz's interior. What does MB recommend using to clean and treat the plastic inside the ML?

Thanks.
- Speedi
Re: Interior Cleaning advice

It's actually mostly vinyl, not plastic :-). The only plastic places that I can think of are the steering column, door map pockets, and the front row seatbacks. Basically any product that can be used to clean and protect vinyl/plastic surfaces and with some UV protection should be okay. Many people here have recommended 303 Aerospace Protectant.

Ouch. Sorry. Yes, I knew it was something other than plastic, but I couldn't remember the term for the substance that was somewhere in-between plastic and leather. I apologize... it was an insult.

OK, so does Meguires make a Vinyl Lotion or something?

Thanks.
- Speedi
Re: Interior Cleaning advice

Speedi-

Meguiar's makes a product for vinyl (in their Gold Class line, I believe - and it's for vinyl and leather surfaces). The product, if memory serves me correct, was decent but not great.

If you really want to preserve your vinyl - try either the 303 Aerospace Protectant that Drew mentions above (and you'll find a link below to a good price, albeit on a gallon of the stuff) - or try Vinylex, from Lexol.

303 will leave your vinyl with a matte sheen - no shine whatsoever (as long as you don't throw successive coats repeatedly). It protects from UV, and repels dust pretty well. Vinylex isn't bad either - I just have issues with it's consistency, and it's gloss - it's a bit glossier than 303, and I like my vinyl matte.

Either way - can't go wrong. 303 can be found at any RV/Boating store, and Vinylex should be in just about any retail auto parts store near you.

Ouch.
