Replica Rims for my ML. (and offset question)

i want to upgrade my stock 17" Rims to some nice 20".

my stock rims are 17" x 8.5 ET 52

i have 2 Rims to choose at the moment:

AMG Replica: 20" x 9.5" ET 35
Mercedes Replica: 20" x8.5" ET 55

the AMG Replicas i can get brand new for $100 / pc but they have Gunmetal paint. i'm not sure if they will fit with my dark blue metallic ML.

any problems for the Offset or clearance for the fenders? i just have stock fenders and no flares.
i want to use 275/45 rubbers on it, maybe even 295/45 but i guess 295 is not very helpful to get a good gas millage.

Hello Max,

Are the rims you've posted above available for sale in China or are they available for sale online/Ebay in the US?

The AMG replicas are nice; but I tend to agree with your reservations about the gunmetal colour against darker-coloured MLs.

The Mercedes replicas, which I don't think are as nice as the AMG replicas, would look better on darker-coloured MLs.

A few comments:

1. ET35 will not work without spacers. Not a problem if you get quality hubcentric spacers
2. 20 x 8.5 or even 9.5 is very narrow for the ML. You really want 20 x 10, 10.5 or 11 to make it look nice
3. Any rims for the ML that cost $100 per will look good only for a very short while. Unless that's what you want, spend some good money and get yourself a good quality set of wheels
4. I couldn't check the tires for you. Whatever you do, don't get very Lo profile tires - the gap between tire/fender will look very ugly. Try to stay close to the overall wheel diameter

I just get these kind of prices for the rims because i purchase directly from the factory in China. The Quality is good and the Retail prices in the US would be in a total different price region.

most styles for 20 x 9.5 i can get for $150 or less from the factory, but the Gunmetal colored ones are a stock product so he give me a special price.

in general all the aftermarket products you find on ebay for our ML is coming from china, and i can get all these stuff for a fraction of the price from teh factory directly in china.

to 1: i checked with an offset calculator and for ET 35 i was just off by 4mm compared to my OEM rims? and if i use ET 38 i'm just off by 1 mm. do i really need spacers?

to 2: for 8.5 i agree its to narrow, but i think 9.5 should be OK already. Its hard to find rims with more then 9.5 here.

to 3: see my other post, i just get price because its from the china factory directly.

to 4: yes im planing to get continental sport contact 2 or Toyo proxes in 20" 275/45, the diameter would be even a little bigger now.
stock have 73.4cm and i would have 75.6cm and it would lift the truck by 1.1cm.
The speedometer would be off by 3% but this doesn't really matter in China.

You will probably need spacers as someone else said but me personally I would get the wider rims. I think the gun metal looks good on any color, and either of those rims will looks good. The tire size you chose is good also. Plenty of tire. 295/45 or 295/75. I would get the 295s. One a 20x9.5" rim all around, it will looks great and handle better. I run 275/45 20s on 35 and 37 offset rims with 10mm spacers all around. Its on a 55 and brake clearance was the issue in back with the OEM brembos but I ran spacers all around ti fill out hte fenders more. Only reason I went with 275s over 295s was money, my friend works for a tire dist and I got a better deal on the 275s.
