I made it that way by design and function. There is a winch and mounting brackets behind it. Also I had to incorporate the tow bar brackets and supports behind the bumper which made it all flat across the front. Kind of reminds me of the Cadillac Art and Science design on the CTS...
you say its an off road bumper but it makes the car much longer and increase the distance to the front wheels. doesn't that dramatically decrease the attack angle on a hill?

That's the purpose of those two sets of brackets. Just mount a couple of small wheels up there and he's ready to go.
OK, despite my initial horror, this turned out pretty good... and functional I'm sure.

I can image the functionality of the bumper for offroading, but here goes the crumple zones.
Wouldn't like to be in any of the vehicle crashing with it.
