Electric folding exterior right mirror Does Not Engage in Correct Stop Position

Hi,

I have a ML270 2002 and someone hit into my passenger side mirror. Now when I press the button to fold the mirror, it folds in more than the drivers side one and makes a horrible clicking sound when folding.

Electric folding exterior right mirror Does Not Engage in Correct Stop Position.

Please can some advise on how to fix and whether anyone has any pictures to illustrate how to fix?

Thanks.

Regards

hold the mirror fold button in.The mirrors will fold in and resynchronize. You will hear the clicking noise during the resync. Hold the mirror fold button in until the clicking stops. That will fix it

Hi,

Thanks for the advice, I pressed the button until the clicking stopped, but when I opened the mirrors and closed it again the clicking is still coming from the passenger side. I guess something has been damaged inside.

Hi,

I am suprised that it is not easily fixed because the only problem is that the passenger side mirror folds in a little bit more and is making a clicking sound, apart from that the mirror opens and closes perfectly.

There are re-sync procedures in your manual. They are different depending on weather the mirrors were forcibly folded forward or rearward.

Ok push and hold the button in the open position. The mirrors will attemp to re sync in the open position. you will hear the clicking noise again. hold the button in the open mirrors position until the clicking stops. If it does not work the mirror might be broken indeed.

Hi,

I try that but the passenger side mirror still folds in more and makes the clicking sound. If I press the closing button again just about when it is going to close then the mirror stops and I avoid the horrible clicking sound.

Thanks for all your help and advise. I guess I going to have to replace the whole mirror.

Hi,

I have checked the manual and it has no information about re-setting the mirrors. I have tried holding the button down in the close and then in the open position, but the clicking sound on the passenger side still occurs. I can only conclude that I will have to replace the mirror, I went to the dealers and they are charging £525 for the inner mechanics part.

Regards,
