4 rear wheels from most S or SL class models (and possibly others like the CLS?...) should work nicely on a narrow body ML. Unfortunately, a full set of rear wheels isn't that hard to come by. If you do go this route, you may want to play around with hubcentric wheel spacers afterwards to get that "fat" look. You could also get that OEM look by getting an ASA ST4 or TSW Bremma wheel in an 18". Those wheels are pretty affordable, my guess would be $250-$300 each.
btw, I was thinking about getting 20" snows on deep dish wheels for next winter so I'd consider selling my OEMs. My AMG 18's have been sandblasted and powder coated glass black and I have a nearly new set of 265/55/18 Dunlop Winter Sport M2 snow tires mounted on them.
