1998 ML320 - Rear seats - poor leg-room, can this be corrected?

Hello,

I have a 98 ML320 that I've had for about 6 years now. I rarely have anyone in the back seats (2nd row seats, don't have 3rd row), but pretty much everytime someone sits back there they complain about how bad the leg room is. I'm 5' 10" and when I sit back there I also feel that the leg room is really bad (maybe something worse than an old 3 series BMW). I recently sat in the back of a friends 2002 ML320 and noticed it had PLENTY of leg room even with the front seats pushed all the way back.

Question is - is there a setting to move the back seats to give rear passengers more leg room? I'm not concerned about losing any luggage space.

Thanks in advance for the replies!

Try to pull on the horizontal handle and move the seat backwards.

Thanks edvaru! I can't believe I didn't figure this out until now. I pushed the lever and rocked the seats back, giving an 3.5 - 4 inches - fantastic!

Just to make sure I'm not missing anything else, is there a way to get a few more inches of leg-room or is this it?

Must of been a common complaint (rear seat legroom). Mercedes addressed it with the new 2006 M-class (w164) and increased the legroom in back.
