airbag light on while driving on Express way..please help or some advice

Yesterday was the third time that i have experienced this in the past month..While im driving the airbag light will light up and all of the gauges will fall to zero for about a second and once the aibag light goes off the gauges return back to there normal state....now while all this is happening the car doesnt lose any power and continues to drive normal....has anyone ever seen or heard of this before.....any help will be great.... i just dont want the airbag going off on me while im driving....thanks ...

Normally if the SRS light illuminates on its' own, it is attributed to the faulty sensor (infant child recognition) in the passenger seat, and that is the only thing the lights. But there seems to be more to this one. What the exact problem is I cannot say, but my guess would be some problem with the instrument cluster or the SRS control module, which is just forward of the gear shifter in the console. Have you spilled anything recently onto the console?
