The new switches are completely different than the older ones since they're not around the gearshift console rather than behind it. The system also has pinch protection now (because of the one-touch up feature), something that the pre-'02 MLs do not have.
That pinch protection can be a problem. Mine when using the one touch up still intermittently go all the way up then down an inch or so. Happens less frequently that before the factory tech had a go about fixing but still occurrs. He looked at it in Nov and was supposed to get back to me about possibly changing all the window track insulation but have not heard from him. They did change everything in the system before
Sosh, I know that for the E and S-class, you can reset the pinch protection by raising the window all of the way up by pressing and holding the switch (the procedure is in the manual). I haven't checked the '02 ML's manual, but I wonder if there is a similar way to do this?
