AGAIN
there is TWO motors- TWO
one behing your radio and another one kinda behind passenger airbag
I had to replce one behind p. airbag !!!
search for pics if you want
Thanks MADSLEG, I get that there are two motors, which is what my confusion, which one do I replace? Are your instructions for the Air-blend motor, if so, can this this accessed by removing the center console? And I did find your pics, I believe I linked to them in my first post

So the same fix that MADSLEG has can be done by removing the center console? And it's the same motor that can be viewed by taking the radio out? How is this possible, since the one MADSLEG talks about is clearly behind the airbag and ergo would not be visible with the radio out. Clearly the motor MADSLEG has in his fix is too deeply buried behind the airbag, no?

Ok, so this motor can be accessed one of two ways:
1: Remove the center console
2: Remove the glove box and airbag
Sorry, it's the same questions I've asked several times now, but I'm still un-clear on what the answer is.

I could've sworn I had this in there, but it's updated now for your perusal

Rainman, instructions (upto VIN A289564) from MB to replace blend air flap actuator says the first step is to remove the Instrument panel. If MB says so, I assume a mechanic's arm should be able to reach there. From that picture taken from an angle, it looks like the actuator might be located closer to the airbag. I cannot tell you why they advised to remove the instrument panel. My guess is that MB did not want their mechanics to mess with the airbag units every day.
When I fixed the actuator for center air duct flap, I had to remove the instrument cluster (not the panel) and worked through a very small hole. Removing the instrument panel should give you a lot more access space. It will not be an very easy job for someone doing it first time but, one can figure it out one step at a time.

Reason: removed "center console"
Below you will find the procedure to remove the center section. First disconnect the negative battery cable, then the radio and then the center section.
After that remove the glove box and the passenger's side air bag. Working with your right arm in the gove box opening and your left arm inside the center section you should be able to remove the two screws that hold down the air blend motor. It is tricky but it can be done.

Thanks!!!
Darn! seems like I'll have to take the air bag out after all.
