It may well be the same problem I had or your torsion bar bushings or stabiliser bar bushings Bigburgundy.

Like you, it didn't happen all the time; only sometimes when the vehicle was rocked from side to side from undulations in the road or whilst riding on rough/unpaved roads.

Have a person lie under the vehicle as you rock it from side to side and see if they can isolate the sound to a certain area or part.
