I'm about to step up and build up the "low end" of my sound system in the ML. I'm ordering an amp wiring kit to kick things off. Setting up the infrastructure if you will. It's gonna be either 00 guage or 4. Those of you whom have done this already, is running that kind of wire pretty simple? Are you running it through the firewall and into the cabin on the passenger side? Once inside are you fishing the wire under the door sills, etc to get to the rear of the cabin? Any advice you can share I will be very grateful for.
I ran my + wire through the firewall on the passenger side. Are you ever going to get another amp? The only reason I would get 00 wire is if I was going to get a distribution block for multiple amps. If you are only going to have one amp you will be safe with the 4ga.

Awesome ttaleric. Yeah the ultimate goal is a nice Sub amp and eventually a 4 channel one. I figured if there's a good hole in the firewall to pass 00 guage I will go for it. Good to hear there's some room on the passenger side firewall.

Heck that should be a little low-end reinforcement. I considered getting a remote level knob for the amp, but remembered the AVIC-D3 has it's own Sub Level control. Down the road I will address the assorted Bose chunks.
For those of you running amp wire, especially heavy guage. Here are some pics of where I made a hole in the firewall. This hole size accomodates 0 Gauge wire and a split loom flex sheath. Notice that I hade to penetrate two chunks of sheet metal.
I used a little flat black paint after to tidy things up a bit and prevent rust.
