The ADT-VA133 kit is the best money spent. You won't be dissapointed. On my 2000 the AVIC goes direct to the Bose Amp via the stock wiring. Yours being optical poses a bit more difficulty. Looks like you're taking the best path deleting the bose amp and substituting your own thus eliminating the proprietary optical connections. That should be pretty straight forward. The bose woofer will probably work fine with your new amp although it may sound like ass. After all it's really(barely) a woofer and not a sub. I like your idea of using a Bazooka instead. I'm considering the very same sub solution. Good luck with your install!
Thanks for the tips! Can you do me a favor? Can you measure the opening under the ML front seats? Mabey I can get rid of the stock bose sub (it is TINY)..Im just not sure if a bazooka tube or a basslink will fit under there. I could then get a 4 channel amp and a bazooka....
The ML is in Michigan and I am in Florida for another week..
Thanks!
Joe
EDIT: After looking at some pics...theres no way a tube can fit under the ML seat..I may just try using the stock sub...cant sound any worse than stock!

Yeah youre looking at about 4 1/8 inches high, 9 inches wide and about 13 inches deep. Give or take. Not much room for anything but an amplifier. If you can pull it off, keep the Bose woofer under there and keep it crossed over about 80hz or higher, thus making it a true woofer. Maybe even 120hz. Then power a nice sub (Bazooka or equivalent) at the rear of the ML. Tis what i'm gonna do.
