Computer problem? maybe?

on my 1998 ml320, the overhead console that shows the date and the miles to gallon and the range, everytime i turn my car on it gets reset to a different date and i always have to set it to todays date? does anyone have an idea what it could be!?? Thanks.

Happened to me when my battery was going dead. Try that before you go replacing computers.

you know i think your right because i had 3 mechanics tell me i need a new battery. hopefully the new battery fixes the problem. thanks again.
