i got a call from the dealer last week offering a free MOT service (mine is due by the end of October). i suppose they may want to diagnose the car to hook me for a couple of decent changes.. will see. i booked for tomorrow and will advise on how it was.
the weirdest thing is i am not servicing my car with them. at all. neither i'm having an extended warranty. just buying regular parts for my ML from time to time. unbelievable kindness in my opinion.. has anyone been into this yet?
EDIT: sorry, can i have the entire topic moved to Mercedes General as it might be helpful for other UK MB owners too. thanks
Hey CAHEK – I’ve seen the term MOT in UK auto magazines, and realize that its some sort of inspection – but I wonder if you would forgive my ignorance and tell me what it stands for and what’s involved?
Here in Arizona I’m only required to go through an emissions check every two years (after the car is five years old) and that emission check is only required in two of the counties in the state.
it stands for Ministry of Transportation test if i recall it right. you have to do it here every year if your car is more than 3 years old. they normally check brakes, liquids, springs, all those visual sorts of things. it costs only about £40 ($75-80) to do, but that's the first time in my ownership i've been offered it free of charge by the lovely dealership
Thanks for the info!!
When I took my ML430 in to the stealership for a FREE (Warranty) replacement of the Harmonic Balancer a few years ago they tried to sell me all sorts of repair work that the car didn’t need!
I hope that the dealerships in the UK are different – but I doubt it!
