2002 ML320 Brake Light Assembly

Quick question. According to the manual, there are five lights in the brake light assembly. Mine has only four. Is the side marker light the fifth and is it located separately or something? Thanks in advance.

The side marker is a smaller bulb and is located below the other four towards the outside of the vehicle (where the marker is). It is separate from the other four bulbs.

Thank you, Bogie. I'm replacing it tonight and the parts department didn't seem to know.

It's not difficult at all and I buy my bulbs from Advanced auto or equivalent. I do wonder what the dealer would charge to replace my bulbs, but I'm not curious enough to be the guy who finds out with his head between his ankles.

Yep, understand. I got my bulbs at the dealer, because Advance Auto didn't have them. They were 3 bucks for the sidemarker and 3 bucks for the one over the license plate. Probably a rip off but I just wanted the correct bulbs.

I guess they can't rip you off so much for $3. I don't remember what they cost, but I'm sure it was more than $1, maybe more than $2.
