I have a 98 ml320 and my remote does not work. I have tried re-programming it with the manual that it came with, but it just doesn't work. What else can I do, without spending toms of $? I saw some new and used remotes on Ebay, and they say that all you ahve to do is program it, but I don't know how true that is, without going to the dealer. Also, the panel screen that shows how many miles are left, you know, the one with the timer, also has a clock feature, doesn't it? How can I set the time? That info is not in the manual. Also, the clock on the dash and the outside temp light area thing on the dash is not lighting up light. How can I get it to light up the same way the mileage one does? Someone, please help me from spending lots of money at a service station to help me.
Thanks...I'm a newbie!

First the key - Try changing the battery - mine goes out once a year so I think you should try that first.
As far as the manual, you can download one online at MBUSA .com after creating a profile.
The color of tint of the lights are guided by bulbs behind the dashplate, there is a DIY instruction set on this forum, use the search feature and enter "dash lights"
The Trip computer (on the roof) does not have a CLOCK feature but a timer. it does have a average total mileage meter, a current average milage meter, gas miles left based on fuel remaining (which for you will be off because of the larger rims), and lastly it has a calender.
I hope this helps and welcome to the forum!!
NOW the bad part, you have 22" rims but are being frugal with repairs - you are going to be in for a shocker, this car is expensive to keep up, i'd scrap the rims and see if you can get some coverage for major repairs.

thanks! I did change the batteries. My hsband called the Mercedes shop and they said they can re-program it for free...Whew! Thanks for the info I already have the original manual that came w/ the car. I'm new to this car, but I already have a 91 300E for the past 10 years, and still running strong. I didn't realize that this truck had 22 inch rims on it, because Ireally didn't know the difference, but yes, the car does come w/ warranty for major things...engine, transmission drivetrain....etc...thanks!

I am surprised a 98 will come with warranty.
Is that a 3rd party warranty ?
Which Mercedes shop are you using ? I might send my truck there
for repairs.
the warranty is for 6 mos. from the place where I bought the car. But, the place he called for the re-programming is a shop called RBM Mercedes, in Alpharetta,ga.
