I retro installed a Comand system in my 2003 ML350. Everything works but the Sat Nav.When I put the Nav cd in the comand loads the cd and says "sat nav is being activated. then it stops for a while and I get the message, "Navigation can not be activated, and error has occured". What does that mean?(casue it says the fault in the manual, but nowhat it means) I have checked the system info, and that says that Im not picking up any GPS signals!
So, can it be a faulty GPS antenna? Its a no name little one! I have just bought online a "real" merc underdash antenna to see if that works!
But if anyone has had the same thing, please let me know!
And thanks for a great forum, it has helped me alot.

Underdash antenna? That sounds interesting. I thought SAT antennae need to be exposed to the clear sky. I want to hear how this goes.
Sorry I don't have an answer, but I'm sure you double checked your antenna connection, right? How did you know how to retro fit it? (the antenna, I mean)
This sounds more like a software problem. Have you checked to make sure that your disk is compatible? Some MCS(s) will not work with the 2004.1 NAV CD. They will only use an earlier release. I wonder if this could be your issue.

I have a 2003 nav disk and a 2004 disk and they both say the same! I think it has something to do with the fact that Im not getting any signal!
I have double checked everything. I have tried to put the antenna on the roof, but still no signal! How I know, loads of googling. there is alot of brilliant places on the net that can help you! It is pretty easy! I needed one adaptor that I got on ebay.de and then it was plug and play!!! I even installed a connection so I can use my ipod or any MP3 player. Cut the cable of a pair of old headphones and made a connetion to the AUX pins in the back of the comand.
