oil Hi

hi everybody
after 2 days of changing my oil and filter i try to check from the instrument cluster i got the message oil HI , i put as in the manual 8.5 US QT of oil when changing, check the dipstick it is in the max level
what is the problem ?

The procedure recommends that you add 7-8 quarts, check the oil level and then add as needed.

Are you sure you were able to remove all of the old oil. If you were not and you added 8.5 quarts without checking, it could put you over the limit.

Did you use a pump to remove the oil, or did you drain?

i drained all the oil and wait till the pan was empty than i put 8.5 US quater like it was written in the manual
may be i have a problem in the oil sensor?

The low mark on the dipstick is actually 2 liters down from the max level. I find that if the oil level is above the mid point on the stick, the oil will quickly burn off so that the level is at mid point (the level sensor reads 0.0 at mid).

When I refill, it takes about 8 liters to get to mid stick. I drive until the oil level light starts to come on and add a liter (usually once between 10k mile oil change intervals). My engine has 160k miles.
