can a faulty left front speed sensor activate the ets safety feature falsely?

ML has been diagnosed with left front speed sensor ( open circuit in wiring ) , I was wondering if this also could cause the yellow triangle light to flash and activate the ets in a over sensitive way? Is there anyone here who can help? Somebody?

If a wiring malfunction like an open circuit to a speed sensor is sensed, then ABS, ETS and ESP switch off automatically, and can no longer activate.

Thanks a lot Wolfgang. Forgive me for my ignorance, but does your answer say no to my question or yes? So, youre saying that even if I replace the front left sensor , those lights will still be on?

busoptr, I would take the ML back to the mechanic who diagnosed the problem, and let him fix it. In the end this may be less expensive than replacing more parts which may or may not fix the problem. Usually with an open connection to a speed spensor the ABS malfunction indicator light should be lit up.

Here is a page from the owner's manual. Good luck.
