My '99 M320 is currenting suffering from a water leak. First thing the dealer said was sunroof drain tube most likely. Took it in today, they had it for around an hour and simply came back with its not that, we will need it for a day for diagnosis. Thats going to cost.
The water is actually coming in through the dash. It only leaks when it rains. It is leaking out of one of the screw holes in the bottom of the dash into the drivers side footwell. Does that ring a bell with anyone?
I was going to attempt diagnosis myself. I am a bit concerned that the vehicle might be dangerous to drive. I haven't taken the dash off yet, but I presume there are electrics in the area and wondered if it should even be driven at the moment as we are experiencing bad weather. Can anyone advise?
i have an 02 ml320 and i had a leak that was only apparent when it rained and when i washed it. It would condensate on the windshield and puddle in the driver's side floor board and soak everything. I thought it was the windshield too so i took it to the auto glass shop for an estimate or to get it re-sealed. Turns out it the sunroof drain tube "shrunk up"(his terms) at the sunroof and ran down the pilar into the dash and onto the floor. I had no electrical problems luckily and he fixed it for no charge in about 20 minutes. i've been leak free since
My 2001 ML320 keeps getting wet whenever it rains. Yes, I have cleaned out the sunroof drains with compressed air, but it is still leaking. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to stop the leaks? Also my door locks are now broken, I was wondering how much that would cost(also need replacement keyless entry?)
That's an interesting, I am having the same issue! Everytime it rains, there's leak all over the floor. It had to be inside the pillar. I ran thru a metal wire about 5 feet long to the drain, and metal came outside the pillar. how do i remove the pillar? do you just pry it open? I don't want to break the thing.
All are the same issue - Both of you should check out the DIY thread for a fix. As I recall- thin piece of plastic wiring pushed down through clears the blockage - or as Boca said, it could be broken.

Good and bad news - I have found the source of the water leak. I had to remove the door sealer and part of the headliner. Then I took the bottom of the dash board off and saw the main problem. I poured a little water down the drain tube and saw the tube disconnected. But the problem is located next to the vent fan and my fingers can't fit in it. Any suggestions? I think it just needs to be reconnected because there is no connection on it. Any help would be much appreciated.
