Question DIY question: Putting the truck on Jack Stands

I'm going to jack up the ML and put it on stands this weekend (assuming my brake parts get here in time). I am assuming that the best place for the jack stand is under the jacking points. If this is the case, where is the best place to jack the truck up so that the jacking points are accessible?

Please lend me your experiences in doing this.

I've always jacked on the jacking points with my trusty automotive floor jack and placed the jackstands under the frame behind the jacking points. Make sure to use 4 legged jackstands as they are a lot more stable than the 3 leg! good luck!--

For easy jobs I always use ramps. Much easier and safer, than jacks.
If you really have to use jack -ML's frame is easy to spot.
My father's 1969 Buick could support the car weight on bumpers.

Thanks guys. You are all awesome!

FYI: My brake parts won't be delivered until next week, so I guess I'll just clean up the ML and enjoy our first warm, sunny weekend in a month. I'll keep you posted.

Kaj... I remember the old solid bumpers!

It appears that the cross member is on the rear of the vehicle. What about the front end. I was concerned that I'd not be able to jack it up at the jack points and put a stand there?

Anyone with good pictures, that would be appreciated. I have a 2000 ML430.

It has been a while, so I don't remember exactly where, but it wasn't too difficult to figure out where to place the stands. Ironically, it's time for me to change the pads again. Hopefully it will warm up a bit in the next couple of weeks. I will order the new pads next week. It hasn't been a year, but I did get 30k+ out of the EBC pads and I like the stopping power. They also gave me much less dust. Even though they are worn now, they are still quiet. I'm going to use them again.
