Question High pitch noise from instrument panel when starting up first time in the day

Every few days, when I start up the engine there is a high pitch noise that comes out of the instrument panel. It used to be lower but now it's getting louder. Lasts about 20-30 seconds then stops. No indicators come on. Sound persists even after I turn off the engine. Any ideas what this might be? and how it can be fixed? My suspicion is that it might have something to do with the car's alarm but I have no other clue whatsoever. Thanks!

My 2002 ML320 does the same thing, occasionally. I would call mine a high pitched 'continuous beep'. I'd like to know WTF it is, myself. It doesn't do it every day, but when it does, it lasts about 30 to 45 seconds.

Cleaning is just a temporary fix, it seems. I cleaned ours a few months ago and luckily not a squeal from it since.

There is. The updated e-box fan uses ball bearings instead, I think.

The one in the ML430 chirped like a bird. It hasn't done it in a long time.

I believe all car standard electronics are covered which means the ebox fan is covered. Lets faceit, if they don't cover the fan and the circuit boards fry, it is going to cost MB a lot move to fix than just the fan! I do not think the upgrade electronics such as the Bose etc are covered but I might be wrong.

Does this make an alarm go off? Mine was making a strange high pitched noise, then an loud alarm went off, sounded like under the dash.
