Looks like oil is still leaking, a very small amount on the silver engine housing, but not coming from the cap. Kajtek - have more details?

I'm off to pick up the rest of the parts needed for the oil filler area - there are four parts total:
- Oil filler cap
- Top Gasket (comes with the filler cap, installed in it)
- Neck
- Bottom gasket
Picking up the neck ($16) and bottom gasket ($5) today from my local dealer, will try to install later when things cool down.

So...wjbarton,what happened next?
No more leaks since you replaced an oil filler cap?
Now I have the same problem after 140Ks with my M104 engine.

No, I still see a little leak after all of that. The same leak. It's very, very small, and I haven't had any oil amount problems, so I've put that one aside for now. I'll look back into it after I get some other things squared away though, cheers!

More about breathing pipes. In CA dry weather never had the issue, but remember long time ago, while living in 4-seasons the moisture mixed with oil on colder engine and accumulate on flame retarding screens in the breathing tubes. With the breathing tubes clogged the crankcase pressure had to lift the cap and escape there.
I never had to get to breather tubes on ML, but they usually go from top of the engine to air filter housing.
