how long should this take and how much should this cost? will take it to the dealer? thanks.

I would guess a one hour job @ $90.00 per hour (or whatever the rate is in your area) plus a gasket would probably be $150.00 or so. My 2 cents.

the ml uses a liquid gasket to seal the upper and lower pan. one hour is too little. most dealers, the tech will charge 40% above what warranty pays. I never have done a lower oil pan on a ML, I believe it is like the s class where it is in plain view, unlike the c classes where you have to drop the subframe in order to remove the lower half. my guess is about 3-4 hours.
