Wow guys I have to thank you all for your responses and help; I know this is extremely bizarre. My rim is a goner, yet my car can move now. The only problem is that the spare or break area of the spare is making a lot of noise as if something is rubbing against something and the wheel will not move freely when jacked up and in neutral. Even without the lugs in. I fear I damaged my break. I’m in the pursuit of finding the original lugs to see if it solves anything. Thanks again.
hmm, when it didn't move earlier....you didnt just press the gas pedel more, did you?
i'm starting to think that you've wrenched your brake caliper askew so you've seriously
damaged the rotor(s). you've seriously compromised the braking system so do NOT
drive anymore until you get this thoroughly exmained !
I remember this topic being discussed here before, and this is based on what I remember:
It looks from your avatar that you have aftermarket wheels. It is common to need longer wheel bolts with aftermarket wheels, because the hub center of the wheel is thicker. When you installed your spare and used the longer-than-stock wheel bolts, they were driven into the drum parking brake system in your rear wheels. The parking brake(s) may be jammed in place. The parking brake is a drum system that sits inside the hat of the rear rotor.

See Raymond's reply above. The noise you're hearing is most likely a damaged rotor/caliper assembly rubbing against the spare rim, or something. Start by taking the spare out and examining the inside part of the rim (you can try to go under the truck and inspect first). See if it's rubbing against the spare rim itself. If that's not the case, inspect the rotor - try to turn by hand (I'm not sure with 4WD you can even turn the rear wheels when jacked up). Try anyway. My bet is that you'll have to replace the rotors and calipers.

There is no solving this the damage has already been done. The noise you are hearing..... is the long lugs tearing up your parking brake and hub assembly. I thought a member already told you that the Lugs are too long to use on the spare. I guess you just gassed the engine to move the ML and you destroyed your hub and parking brake assembly. Also how did you drive your ML with your tire flat . I guess you didn't care about destroying your aftermarket wheel. Anyway this snafu is going to cost you some dollars.
You all were right…the lugs were way to long for my spare. Thankfully I didn’t drive the car but up and down my drive way, and no damage was done to my break system; believe it or not. I had the car towed to the dealership this morning and they inspected the car thoroughly. The only damage found was slight engravings on the parking break…wonder how that got there??? Anyway I’ve ordered a new rim and all is good. No reason to ruin the holiday spirit, yet again I have to thank you all for your aid and advice. Hopefully I will have the opportunity to pay you all back for this help.

Yah!!! Here's my address...send the check to me, I'll distribute it to all the others. Good to hear you have minimal damage. Now go get the right lugs!!!
BTW, this should be a lesson for all of us with non OEM rims - the spare works only with OEM lugs so always carry a spare set in the truck just in case. I do!!!
Geez, just when you think you have some idea of what you have, here we go again. So am I to assume that my spare on my ML500 does not have the right lugs? SO if I have a flat tire then I cannot mount my spare and drive? Do I have to buy smaller lugs and why doesn't ML provide me with smaller lugs to begin with? Darn it, I am confused. Somebody please explain this (be gentle please)
Never mind. Seems like this only applies to non OEM rims. (embarassed)
