Spilled Gas in my TRUNK!!!

Today my retarded friend spilt gas in my truck while I was nice enough to let him tag along and fill it up for his jetski. He left the cap open and now as a drove off I smell REAL strong gas from my car, I pull over to find out he spilt bout a gallon of gasoline in my trunk. I CANT GET HE SMELL TO GO AWAY!!!

Tried this:

1) Soap and Water
2) Car Fabric Cleaner
3) Fabreeze
4) Vinegar (To kill the smell)
5) Vacuum to drain the water + Dried it down with towel
6) Left the car to open for it to evaporate (All doors open + Windows + Sunroof + 3rd row windows + Trunk)

Will I get my car smell back? Will the car smell normal? What do you recommend? (Smell horrible, you can smell it 20 ft away from the car!!!)

Replace all the carpeting is the only way to get it to go away fast. Otherwise it will fade away but very slowly and you will most likely smell gas for over a year.

How much will it cost? Is it covered under warranty?

Stupididy is not covered by any warranty.

That really sucks. The gas smell will never go away. You will have to remove the carpet and anything under it and throw it away.

I guess now you are going to see how good a friend you have. His mistake he should pay for the damage.

With that much gas I would not put the windows up at all. The gas will vaporize and could explode from just a static spark from your clothing causing injury or death.

It would take big concentration of fumes to make danger of the explosion.
Humans die much sooner, than that from the poisoning.
I would at least remove the carpeting and hang it in the garden, while living the doors in the truck open with possible fan running.

Will a detail shop have a solution to this? How much will the Rear Carpets go for?

How do I remove the Trunk carpeting? I don't think its that easy or it would have been my first objective.

I never had to do it, so don't know exactly, but I belive it is glued with some bolted brackets.
You are not loosing much by ripping it off and can gain lot of health in return.

I highly doubt it affects my health no more than the guy working at the gas station pumping gas all day. For now I can make little trips and just hop in my parents car for now (If they trust me that is!).

How many gas pumps have you seen installed in closed buildings?
