l was switching out my centre console handle, because, it was squealing like crazy(the new handle has a new set-up, one less notch- A 163 680 03 84 7211)...and l noticed this.."a coin holder"..."What an idiot"...l never noticed it before..please tell me l'm not the not the only one...so l put some coins in....The second pic is of the old part..the new part does not have the centre prong, which, when moved squeaks like hell....

Nope not only you, I didn't notice it until I was changing my carphone and had to remove the unit.

Quite hidden they way it is in there.

I've taken that thing out twice and never noticed - good catch.

I wonder how useful it is though, tucked away where it is. BTW, I love your BBS rims, CA.

Noticed it several times, and I don't like it.

I have to put my arm in some awkward position to get some coins.

I think the coin holder should've been placed out on the center console somewhere. We use the pop out ash tray to hold coins.

RE: l never noticed it before..............

One of the things i miss about the 2000 ML was the superior coin holder that was easy to get to. I think the 02+ design is just stupid it cant hold very much and only holds 2 types of coins. With my 2000 ML i would normally would end up with $5 in change every few weeks.

l agree guys.....not the most user friendly system out thier. You should try it up here in Canada, where we have "loonies and toonies"......they both don't fit.....[}:)]

I also hate it....

Does not hold many coins and you have to bend your arm to get to the coins. I did load it with quarters "just in case", but I think the next time I use them is just before I sell the car....
