(problem) - low range light kept flashing

hi,
I read this in one of the forum "Transfer case shift motor - make sure low range light doesn't flash on start up." Everytime I start my car, the lowrange kept flashing for a few second. Is that bad? Does anyone know how to turn it off? thanks

I did a search and came across this thread. My 2002 ML 320 started doing the same thing. After starting, the low range light flashes for about 3 seconds, and then goes off.

I'm looking for a solution as well b/f I take it to the stealer.

Yes, I had that happen on my 05 500SE. Just put it in low range and drive a few feet, stop and take it out. Light should go out----mine did!

Listen my man. Do what I posted and the NEXT time you start your truck the low range light WON'T flash for 3 seconds. It won't come on anymore!

Personally, I think that "low range" is a silly feature that does more to stroke our ego than anything else. I would like to know if anyone really needed low range, meaning that normal 1st gear was not low enough, for any legal driving situation.

From what I hear these low range malfunctions are caused by the fact that the mechanism is never used!
