i use Gunk to clean my van engine then hose it after then put WD40. is these the way to clean the ML engine too?? let me know if there is a better and safer way...
hey patrick... try simple green. it wont eat away the coating on your hoses and cuts grease just as good imo. just be careful not to force the water on the electrical parts, try just a light misting.
im ready for a spring detail myself, post some before and after pics when your done!
If you use a lot of hose pressure just be prepared to replace the CPS afterwards.
Just before I get a lot of excited replies saying people have hosed down their engines for years and never had to replace a CPS, all I am saying is that hosing increases the likelihood of having to replace the CPS (IMHO).

Hey Troy,
You want to come and do it together in my house?
lets wait until it is warm here and stops raining. what u think?
If you do it on regular basis all it takes is good spray of water from garden hose to remove all dust and small oil residues.
If you have oil leak and didn't do it for a year, you need jack hammer.
im down patrick. just lemme know when you want to hook up. maybe we can keep this going as the definitive "how to" detail your engine thread. if anyone gets around to doing it first, please post some pics of before and after. and your technique.
we've got lots of high mileage MLs around now and with spring just around the corner this could be very helpfull.
