During a Saturday trip in my ML55 the command system suddenly shut off and a loud knock began comming from under the dash. The knocking continued loudly even with the car shut off. I pushed the "i" and "Service" buttons but the tech had no idea what it was. I took the ML55 to HBL Mercedes in Tysons Corner, VA and tech wanted to pull the entire command system out. I suggested simply removing the 25 AMP fuse. Once the fuse was removed the pounding stopped. When I got the car home I put the fuse back in and everything seemed back to normal. However, the navigation system was giving backwards directions. I pulled the disk out and re-inserted. Now everything seems fine. Have any other ML owners experienced anything so wacky?
My story is like 10x more wacky, which is hard to believe..
Randomly out of no where, the navigation screen just keeps on closeing and opening.. just keeps on doing it.. no matter what you do.. it freaked people out. Plus, even when the car key was removed, the screen would keep on doing this.. it freaked the technicians out.. they had to repalce the entire panel, beats me what was acutally wrong.. <br>
I have a 2000 ML 430 with the Command system. I have had it replaced 4Xs. The first two the CD player had trouble communicating with the head unit. The last two were replaced for poorly visible screens. All is solved for now!
