I don't (or would be surprised) that anyone said the Brembo's we're bad but I do think that someone probably said that the drilled and cross slotted are easier to warp or crack and also could result in quicker pada wear.
l've always use Brembo's with no problems...Though, l've only used cross-drilled..never slotted...

Donho mentioned on this W163 forum that he warped Brembos on a Maxima sedan, however, the concensus here is that Brembos are the way to go.

You won't go wrong with Zimmermans also. All the German car makers have used them in the past and currently on some models. On our 90 300e I was able to find out they were not Brembos, but in fact Zimmermans from the factory.
Brembo does make a quality product and would not hesitate to buy them.
Their reputation for warping on the Japanese cars is not Brembos fault. A lot of the cars like Accords, Camrys, Maximas etc.... have thinner specs for their rotors. If the driver is a heavy braker then almost any brand can be warped. I got rid of my Prelude Vtec for that reason. I was going thru brakes every 15,000 miles and each time the rotors were junk. Granted I autocrossed the car a lot, but the brakes on my lowly GTi were far more durable. Adding cooling ducts would have solved the Vtecs problem, but would have bumped me out of the stock class. Even autocrossing the GTi I got more than double the wear of the Vtec. Used Zimmermans on the front and Brembos on the rear. The Zimmermans were cheaper up front and the Brembos were cheaper for th rear. Pads were Mintex.
I've warped brembo blanks on my Maxima and cracked cross drilled. Slotted worked the best on the Maxima. I currently use Zimmerman Cross Drilled on my ML.

I think Zimmermans has wear indicators on their rotors too. So you don't need to guess how much rotors you have left. However I do change my rotors every two sets of brake pads because I don't want to have my rotor get stuck on my hub with rust. (sledgehammer time)
