Wiring diagram for 2001 ML 430 light switch

As some of you may recall from my previous topic posting, I recently installed an Eclipse AVN5435 Navi-Audio/Visual unit to replace the OEM COMAND unit. I did eventually fix the speed pulse wire issue (the topic of my previous posting) by installing a CAN-Bus Adapter that I imported from Germany, but now I have a new issue.

The Eclipse AVN unit has another sense wire for determining whether the lights are on, so that it can automatically change from Day mode to Night mode (different color schemes and dimmer backlighting). Normally one would just need to connect the sense wire to a dash light or similar. However, Canadian MLs have a unique trait which prevents me from doing this. In order to meet Transport Canada "Daytime Running Light" (DLR) requirements, Mercedes implemented circuitry that automatically turns on the headlights, taillights and internal dash illumination (just as if I had turned the light switch on) whenever the vehicle transmission is in Reverse or Drive. So as soon as I started moving, the Eclipse AVN would go into Night mode, even in the middle of the day. (Other manufacturers just send a reduced voltage to the high beam headlights, to reduce "wear and tear" on the other lights which are in use more than the high beams).

The only saving grace here (I think) is that the high beam headlights and fog lights will not work unless I actually turn on the lights with the switch (even though they are already on). So I figure that there must be a wire coming from the light switch that goes to 12V when and only when the light switch is moved to the "ON" position, and that I can connect my sense wire to it. However, I need a wiring diagram to figure out which wire that would be.

If anyone has access to this wiring diagram, could you inform me please? Apologies for the long story getting to this point.

Thanks,
John
