Tail Light Removal

I don't mean to be a dumbass but... How do you take out the tail lights? It's obveous that you remove the two retaining nuts with the hatch open then what? Pull straight back or sideways? It does not seem to want to come out and I don't want to break off anything.

Thanks.

RE: Tail Light Removal

You have to pull it straight back after releasing the two bolts/screws. There is a "bulb" type connector that adds extra support. You must pull with some force but keep in mind that you are pulling STRAIGHT OUT. I think my memory stick is in the mail today so I will take pictures for you this afternoon.

is to lever from the front of the housing assembly with a long thin screw driver (use a rag to prevent chipping the paint) that pops the round pegs out of the circular receptacle clips--after you unscrew the two rear screws of course--to avoid the risk of pulling too hard unsettling [or worse disconnecting or stripping] the electrical wiring connection to the taillamps.

RE: Tail Light Removal

I had the same problem earlier this evening.. 10mm socket and pulling straight back worked.
