Brake Dust Stop - maybe!!!

Today at my local Autozone store, in the cleaning aisle, I saw a product by Michelin claiming to basically eliminate brake dust on the rims. It's a spray on like the tire shine things. Anyone used anything like this and does it work? I will buy a can later today and try it. It's supposed to be safe on all finishes. Hope it works.

RE: Brake Dust Stop - maybe!!!

the dust will always be there, but it will not stick on the rim, unlike other rims with out protection. Just spray them with water and it will wash out.

I've always use the rims polish from , and it help me to clean my rims quicker than before.

Use the product called "wheel wax" it really helps prevent brake dust build-up.

RE: Brake Dust Stop - maybe!!!

I've been looking for that product to try, since I saw a write-up in an Autoweek a couple of weeks (or months) back. From what I recall, it's simply a wheel wax, that will prevent the brake dust from sticking to the wheel as much. You can get similar results by polishing and waxing your wheels. I presume that the Michelin wax is more robust against high temps than regular wax.

Did you get some? Let us know your impressions!

I,ve been using it for the last month. Dust still sits on rims but not as much. Bit easy to wash off. Still looking for other alteratives. Besides Different pads and Rotors. [:D]

Tell us about them. How do they compare to Mintex or Porterfields? I assume they have the sensor clips.

RE: Brake Dust Stop - maybe!!!

Had the same problem with the OEM pads, changed the pads to Raybestos Platinum Plus, cleaned the wheels well, then applied Nu-Finish polish, no apparent concerns since. Hope this helps.

I can only compare them to OEM, which came off it. The MB pads dusted the wheels so bad that I had to clean them every 3 or 4 days! I ordered the Raybestos Platinum (Official NASCAR pad) from the local PARTS PLUS auto store but I think O'Reilly's and Advance Auto can get them. They did come with the sensor clips. They make no noise and I haven't cleaned the wheels in over a month! They stop great with no fading. My memory fails me but I think the rear pads are retail $99.00 and the front about $109.00. Pricey but worth it to me. I'll check the store tommorrow and ask to be sure.[:)]
