I don't know if it's me or the car but it seems as if the sound (i have bose speakers) fades once in a while when I'm listening to a CD. I don't think it has ever happened with the radio. I've got a 2002 ML 320. Why does it fade and what can I do (or get MB to do) to fix it?
I've noticed this a few times too. Does the sound system compensate for engine noise at higher speeds? Not so much a problem as it is an annoyance to have the volume go up and down.
I have a bose radio in the 00 ML and a alpine in the 02. both of them seem to fade in and out on the radio but the CD player never fades out. could it be the song? or possibly the CD? try testing it in a home cd player.
aslo if you made these CD's some burning programs have a fade in fade out between songs options so it might just fade out the last 10sec of the song then fade in the new song.
Our ML has a compensating feature on the audio volume for engine/road noise which as you all know is available in abundance!
There's a factory service bulletin on the "variable audio level" - - -we simply had the feature disabled since it's apparently a dealer serviced programmable feature.
