Reminds me of those WONDERFUL wire caps my dad got one time from J.C.Whitney for his DODGE truck. The first time he washed his truck, they RUSTED!!

You definitely get what you pay for!

RE: Nerf bars.

First, welcome to the Forum.

I have the Manik Stainless Step Bars on my ML since new. No sign of rust and I have been happy with them. That's one option.

RE: Nerf bars.

I have a set of the $160 eBay specials. Supposedly, they are polished stainless steel with a lifetime warranty. They are not magnetic, which is a good sign. Of course I am not in the "rust belt", so they should last longer. Besides, if they last two or three years, then I’d rather spend $160 that often than $600 once, because even the highest quality models will eventually dull, scratch, and get dented.

RE: Nerf bars.

I would go with either the OEM Style II Stainless(I had these on my older ML320) or a better choice in my opinion are from ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7991267328 , These are from ebay seller bargainbust2k2 . He/They also have a website http://dealsofsteel.com/ . I put these recently on my newer ML500 sport. The bars are 100% stainless steel(Except for the hardware/brackets but neither are the OEM Mercedes for those pieces). I like them as much as my old OEM ones.(Going up on Ebay soon) The two best things about these are 1 - they are ~1/3 the price of the OEM(Only $189 Shipped), and 2 - They fit the ML500 sports package!!!. My OEM lasted 3+ years on my ML320 and still look great, so I can't talk bad about them. But these new ones I got a few weeks ago seemed to be a great deal and am not sorry I ordered them at all. Got them in 3 days and took about 1 hour to install in the driveway with a friend.

Regards,
Mike
